Three Dashes of Orange

Anthropologie Orange Sunnies
 J Crew Belt
Color blocked flats with a girly touch (My favorite color combo)

A pop of orange adds a dash of playfulness.  These are the ways I have been incorporating a pop of the color of the season.  An accessory such as a belt, pair of shades, or ballet flat are simple ways to update your wardrobe and brighten up your day.  These are my favorite dashes of orange.  Enjoy!

Luxe Look for Less

Equipment is a brand that makes blouses in a variety of prints and colors.  They are classic menswear inspired shirts made with specific details for women.  These tops retail for approximately $200 to $400 (shirt on right).  I do not believe that being fashionable has to cost that much, especially for a blouse.  There are so many other things I would rather do or buy with the money saved.  Plus, so many other brands make tops that look so similar for less.

Here is a luxe look for less option.  I bought this small polka dot blouse this weekend for a fraction of the price.  It is a sheer black top with small white dots (blouse on left).

Gold & Enamel Necklace

This necklace I purchased at a local consignment shop.  I went in with the intentions of selling some items and found this necklace.  It reminds me of something my grandma would wear, but the ivory enamel and gold made me love it.  I have already wore it twice.  I paired it with a stripe dress and red blazer and a purple gingham shirt and lilac cardigan.

Weekend Snaps

I went to my first country bar this weekend.  It even had bull-riding!  On Saturday, I went to look at seahorses with my little brother.  They are so cool.  My friend Macey also came into NJ for the weekend.  We had a relaxing weekend and did some shopping.  Sometimes shopping with a friend can give you some extra confidence to try new things.  With my friend's encouragement I bought another bright pair of pants.

How was your weekend?

Purple and Flowers

J.Crew skirt and sandals, Zara tee, ASOS clutch, vintage necklace, J.Crew, Hermes, Swell Caroline, Gucci Sunnies

This outfit post is from when I was in Florida about two weeks ago.  I love the way these photos came out.  I styled this abstract floral print skirt with a pastel purple tee and bright pink clutch.  I paired my vintage heart necklace also seen here with this colorful outfit.  I wore this outfit for a casual afternoon walking around, shopping, and having lunch.
Hope you like this bright look :)

Nicole Richie Inspiration

I have been a fan of Nicole Richie for a long time, even from her Simple Life days.  Her recent jewelry line House of Harlow 1960, fashion line Winter Kate, and spot on NBC Fashion Star have given her lots of publicity recently.  This mother of two still knows how to look fashionable casual or dressed up.  I always liked her bohemian, edgy flair to her style.  She has even been spotted a lot recently wearing both of her lines.

NBC's Fashion Star

NBC's Fashion Star is my new favorite show.  I tried to buy this dress online right after the show last week and it was already sold out!  I bought this dress the next day at H&M for $20 (it was the last one in my size!)  I could not believe how great the fabric felt and how it fit.  I love structured dresses with sleeves and the cut out gives it a surprising edge.  I can't wait to wear it.

The designer Sarah was so inspiring.  Her story was about always wanting to go to fashion school and delaying it to be a wife and mother.  She began sewing at home and last week sold this dress style to H&M for $80,000.  I can't believe her tuxedo pants got an offer this week. I also loved the convertible maxi dresses, too bad Orly didn't get a bid. The concept of this show is inspiring, giving opportunities to up and coming designers.

If you haven't already seen it, check it out Tuesday at 8:30!

Vintage Tuesday

This necklace I purchased at the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market in New York.  It is vintage Cadoro, a line that was sold to Saks Fifth Avenue in the 1950 and 1960s.  The intricate nature of this necklace drew me to it.  The pink section are beads and the metal balls alternate in a silver and gold pattern.

Cadoro Inc. NY was a costume jewelry brand founded in 1945 and closed in 1970.  The jewelry was hand crafted using brush-gold toned and silver toned metals.  I love when I can find out information about the history of a vintage piece.

Spring Cleaning

With the weather being extremely warm for NJ right now, I decided to do some spring cleaning.  The color coding is working out VERY well!

Then, I decided to take it a step further by taking photos of each pair of shoes and adhering them to the corresponding shoe box.  As you can see, I love shoes!  I hate struggling to find the pair I am looking for to wear with the perfect outfit.  I know this will make it much easier to find shoes in a hurry.  I thought I would share this tip to help others get more organized.

Healthy Pizza Alternative

This is the perfect quick, easy meal or snack when you are in a rush or craving pizza.  This can also be made with mini tortillas as a party snack.

First, I start with a whole wheat tortilla.  This Shop Rite brand has only 80 calories for a large one.  Then, I thinly slice and saute zucchini on a frying pan.  While cooking, I chop a few fresh leaves of basil.   I remove the zucchini from the pan and put on the whole wheat tortilla on a medium heat.
Add about 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce.
Then add a 1/4 cup of part skim shredded mozzarella cheese.
Then decorate with the cooked zucchini and basil.

When the mozzarella starts to melt, top with some parmesan cheese.  Cook until tortilla is light brown and crunchy.

This is a surprisingly healthy meal that tastes good!  This dish has under 250 calories and can be made in different varieties.

Barcelona Inspiration

Barcelona Inspiration

Sass Bide strapless peplum dress, $795
Burberry trench coat, $1,195
Diane von Fürstenberg yellow mini skirt, £247
Mimosa, $107
Seychelles wedge heels, $90
Shoulder handbag, $360
Kate spade jewelry, $148
Chanel chain earrings
Madewell straw fedora hat, $58

All the bright colors and patterns for spring lately remind me so much of Barcelona.  The bright colors in the dress and skirt off set with the dark jewelry, floral top, and classic trench coat.  I love the subtle geometric shapes and colors in this dress.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

Pink and Texture

Nordstrom Top, J.Crew skirt, House of Harlow Necklace, Michael Kors Sandals, ASOS bag, Hermes and Kate Spade bangles

The textured skirt, geometric necklace, and hot pink bag make this outfit one of my favorites.  I love white silk blouses I can never have too many.  The hot pink bag adds a pop of color to a neutral outfit.  It is great because it can be used from day to night.  The envelope style, oversized clutch fits all your essentials and still looks adorable.  Also, since textured skirts and dresses are a trend for this spring I was excited to restyle this skirt I rediscovered in my closet.

I know the Kardashian's have lost a lot of popularity recently, but  I am still a big fan.  Something about them makes me want to keep watching, even though I know they are just regular girls (who haven't done anything that spectacular).  Back when the Miami reality TV show was on, I would religiously watch them.  This past weekend we were walking down Washington Ave in South Beach and I noticed Dash!  I had to stop and take a few pictures.  I even went back the next day to shop around.

Stripes, Dots, and Vintage

Triple Strand Turquoise Necklace

Zara Skirt, J.Crew top, Vintage Necklace, Tory Burch Sandals, Louie Vuitton tote, ToyWatch

This outfit ties together different patterns.  It is daring, yet casual.  Although the skirt looks turquoise, it is more of a mint green.  I was excited to pair dots and stripes together.  I would usually lean toward a solid top with this skirt, but the mixed patterns is much more fun.  I wore this outfit for a causal afternoon walking around South Beach and having drinks.  I also wore this vintage turquoise triple strand necklace.  I purchased the necklace in London last spring.  If anyone knows any great antique shops in the New York area please let me know.

I am disappointed with how dark the outside pictures came.  I just got a new camera and am trying to figure out all the settings.

South Beach -- Weekend Snaps

These are some pictures I wanted to share from this weekend.  This was the first year I did not have a college spring break.  I flew down to Florida to visit Kevin this weekend and we spent some time in South Beach.  The weekend consisted of going to the beach, nights out, and relaxing in the sun. I am exhausted after a late flight and the time change, but it was definitely worth it.  I hope you had a fun weekend too!

Bright is Right

J.Crew, Hermes, Sweet Caroline, ToyWatch, Aqua, Report Boots

I have fell in love with orange this season and it is so out of character for me.  I wore orange denim for the first time while I was in Mexico.  While I didn't document it, I needed to share them this time.  I just landed in Florida for the weekend and wore this on the flight!  I am excited to share an outfit post featuring these ankle boots after featuring the post about them last week.  I paired this bright pair of denim with a comfy chambray shirt, arm full of bangles, statement earrings, and tan booties.  These statement earring I recently found in Bloomingdale's and love the colors and sparkle to them.
