Blue and Pink Outfit

Paige denim, Top, Forever 21 blazer, Asos clutch, Tory Burch sandals, House of Harlow necklace, Poshlocket, Kate Spade, Hermes, and Swell Caroline Bracelets

I wore this for a night out in the city last week.  I played the bright blue denim up with neutral pieces and a pink clutch.  I've been having so much fun with these jeans by pretending they are regular blue jeans.  Check out these other style ideas. Hope you enjoy :)

Miranda Kerr: Style Inspiration

Miranda Kerr's personal style is impeccable.  She always looks glamorous and pulled together perfectly.  I usually am not a fan of models, but I love Miranda.  She wears pieces we can all relate too and also pieces we can envy.  Her style compliments her beauty so well.  She even has her own organic skin care line!  She wears a lot of organic cotton and minimalist clothing.  I love her street style the most! This celeb mom knows what looks good on her and sticks with it, if only we could all have her height ;)

How to Wear a Maxi Skirt

How to Wear a Maxi Skirt

How to Wear a Maxi Skirt by sweetsavvystyle featuring seychelles shoes

After buying a maxi skirt last summer and only wearing it a few times, I wanted to share some ideas on how to wear it.  Sharing this will inspire me to wear my own more and hopefully you all too.  These are my favorite ways to wear my maxi.  It converts perfectly into a strapless belted dress.  My second favorite way is with a tee and denim jacket and lastly, with a silky top and wedges for a night out.  I recently talked to a friend about the controversy of wearing a maxi at night.  When styled properly I believe it can look great and will be sporting it myself for a night out soon.  I even found the perfect maxi dress after searching since this post.  Hope you enjoy these looks.

Infused Vodka Follow-up

After serving the strawberry-pineapple infused vodka on Sunday, I have some tips for you.
Don't eat the fruit!  After three days, it became white and unappealing.  It also tastes worse than a shot of vodka.  I do not recommend eating it.
The vodka itself tasted great on the rocks, mixed with club soda, and even orange juice.

Here are some photos of the final steps.  Use a small strainer into a measuring cup for easy pouring into container of your choice.

How to Make Strawberry Pineapple Infused Vodka

Last week, I went out for dinner and drinks with my mom.  She asked the bartender what special drinks they had, since they always have creative fruity drinks.  He told us he infused vodkas with fruit, one with strawberries and one with pineapples and strawberries.  We tried both mixed with club soda and really enjoyed them.  I am not a fan of bottled flavored vodka, but this has a natural fruit taste and no artificial sweeteners.

I was eager to try to make it at home.   I could not believe how simple it was to make.  First, I cut up pineapple and strawberries and put them in a tomato sauce jar.  Next, I poured regular vodka into the jar.  I sealed the jar and placed it in a dark place for about 3 days.  After the three days past, I strained the vodka into a bowl.  I separated the fruit into another bowl (vodka soaked fruit, perfect for a party).  I put the vodka back into the jar for now, but planning on making a cocktail pitcher for Sunday!

False Eyelashe Tips for Beginners

False eye lashes are not only for special occasions.  They are actually quite easy to apply yourself and can make any night feel special.  I bought Ardell brand from my local drugstore.

Tips for beginners:
1. Keep the rest of your makeup simple and make your lashes the center of attention
2. Before applying, hold them up to your eye to make sure they are the right size.  If not, trim them with a small scissor
3. Bend the lash strip into a C shape curve, this will prevent the corners from lifting
4. Apply Duo eye lash adhesive in black to the lash strips (even if they have self adhesive) for long lasting results
5. Don't rush to apply them.  After applying the glue, wait a few seconds to place them on your eyes.  This will prevent them from sliding
6. Carefully apply them as close to your natural lashes as possible, on top of your lashes (not on your eyelid)
7. Apply a few coats of mascara to blend the false lashes with your natural ones
8. After wearing, the steam from a hot shower can help loosen them.  Close your eyes and slowly peel them off.

Retro Fruit Prints

Retro Fruit Prints

Retro Fruit Prints by sweetsavvystyle featuring a pleated skirt

Sweet retro fruit prints have been making a come back.  Fruit prints were seen last year on the runways and are big in stores right now.  I recently bought an apple print scarf at J.Crew and have been wearing it to work.  The trend is fun and great for the summer.  Fruity prints go hand in hand with brights and are a great way to compliment them.  Here are some images of Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl sporting fruity prints!

Lipstick Challenge

Lately, I have begun experimenting with a bold lip.  I have been fearing this trend for the last year, since it brights back memories of my grandma wearing it.  Bright colors, especially somewhat neon colors, on the lips are very hot right now!  Rihanna, Emma Stone, Kelly Osbourne, and many other celebrities have been sporting this look.

The bright lips on these celebrities adds an extra glam factor!
I tend to always reach for a neutral shade on my lips and was not a big fan of lipstick.  My go to lip shades include cherry chapstick, MAC angel, and Chanel gloss.  My new bright favorites include Maybelline Colorsensational  Coral Crush and MAC Chatterbox.
I challenge you to try a bright lipstick!

White and Sparkles

J Brand jeans, J.Crew necklace, clutch, and heels, Loft top

I wore this outfit to dinner with my boyfriend for our three anniversary.  This neutral outfit with touches of sparkle and pop of yellow made this the perfect outfit for a night out.  I love wearing simple pieces and having the details stand out like the sequins on this top and flowers on these heels.

Coral Accents

Forever 21 blazer, Old Navy tee, J.Crew shorts, Topshop sandals, Anthropologie Sunnies, Earrings: gift, Bracelets: Poshlocket, Banana Republic, Swell Caroline, Yurman

The coral accents in this tee, earrings, and sunnies are my favorite part of this look.  As you know, I have been obsessed with this color since early Spring.  After searching for the perfect white blazer, I finally found this one.  Since it was such a bargain, I don't have to fret over it getting dirty!  I wore this outfit walking around Central Park on Saturday.

One Pair of Jeans All Weekend

One Pair of Jeans All Weekend by sweetsavvystyle featuring a white pearl necklace

Jeans are and have always been my comfort zone when getting dressed.  Of all the colored denim, I have been wearing these bright blue and they are definitely the most versatile.  Since they are still blue jeans they can be worn with almost anything.  These are a few ways I would style them.  I also plan to post an outfit next week wearing them, stay tuned :)

Yellow Bubble Necklace

I know what your thinking by now... Does she have a different necklace she could wear?  The truth is I have tons of statement necklaces, but have become obsessed with this yellow one lately.  The pop of bright color adds just the right touch to so many different outfits.  I have definitely gotten my moneys worth with this one.

On a side note, today marks one year ago that I flew home from London.  I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone.  In the last year I have graduated from college, begun my master's program, began teaching, blogging, and lots more.  I hope to plan a trip back to Europe in this coming year.

Weekend Snaps

This weekend we celebrated our three year anniversary.  We went to dinner in Little Italy and got pastries from my favorite bakery.  He even hired someone to play guitar to me at dinner.  On Saturday, we walked around Central Park and enjoyed the beautiful afternoon.  On Sunday, we went to lunch with friends, went to a bbq, and spent the evening with my parents.

Healthy Recipe - Spinach Smoothie

With summer almost here, everyone is trying to be healthy lately.  I have been experimenting with healthy smoothie recipes for the last few weeks.  A friend of mine gave me a recipe she found off pinterest using mangos and fresh spinach.

I altered it by adding skim milk instead of water for a creamier taste.  I used frozen peaches instead of mangoes and added strawberries and a banana.  I freeze the fresh spinach leaves so they last longer, I also found that they don't make the entire smoothie green this way!  I know it seems silly, but my boyfriend and I are not fans of all green drinks.  This way we got all the nutrients with only green specs in our smoothies!

Ingredients:
5 ice cubes
1/2 cup skim milk
5 strawberries
cup of frozen peaches
1 banana
2 handfuls of frozen spinach leaves
Blend and enjoy!  This recipe makes two large servings.  This smoothie is perfect for breakfast or even an afternoon snack.
